Why this programme, why now?

The rules have settled.

After a year of Omnibus speculation, the CSRD and CSDDD are fixed, the simplified standards are in force, and transposition arrives within weeks of this course. What remains is the part no one can delegate: deciding what these directives mean for your business, who owns the response, what it may cost, and what you will tell your board, your bank, and your largest customers.

This course is built for leaders who cannot leave the business for a week – and should not have to. Three extended days compress the technical content into what leadership genuinely needs, then concentrate on what only leadership can do: govern, decide, resource, and represent. You are not here for templates; you are here for judgement, and you leave with a written mandate for your organisation: scope, resources, milestones, ownership. Pressure-tested by a room of your peers.

Who should attend?

Managing directors and owner-managers of mid-sized and family-owned companies, general managers of subsidiaries and country organisations, chief financial and chief sustainability officers, supervisory board members, and heads of function who must resource and govern the response.

Day one – The law and the boardroom

What CSRD and CSDDD now ask of those who govern, and how to organise the answer.

• CSRD and CSDDD in one morning: the obligations that reach the boardroom, and the ones that do not
• Directors’ duties, liability and enforcement after Omnibus, including the owner-manager’s personal position
• What to delegate, what to own, and the questions every board should now be asking
• Board oversight of sustainability: committee structures that work, and those that merely exist
• Management incentives, targets and the link to remuneration
• Assurance from the leadership seat: what the auditor’s opinion does and does not tell you

Day two – Strategy beyond compliance

From obligation to advantage: reading the rules as a strategist, and facing the outside world.

• From material topics to business model: reading the double materiality assessment as strategy
• The 9Rs as a strategic response: where circularity turns compliance spend into advantage
• Capital allocation, investment cases and the transition plan as a leadership document
• Investors, banks and tender processes: why the market keeps asking even where the law stopped
• Communicating credibly: green claims, greenwashing risk and the discipline of saying less, better
• Working dinner: leading the value chain conversation – what your suppliers and customers now need from you

Day three – The leadership mandate and capstone

• Morning: each leader defines the mandate they will give their organisation: scope, resources, milestones, ownership
• Afternoon capstone: each leader presents their mandate to the room and receives structured peer feedback from fellow executives

The pair pathway: one company, one roadmap

Companies that send a practitioner to the five-day course and a leader to this three-day course unlock the third deliverable: a facilitated joint online follow-up session, held within four weeks of the second course.

In that session, the practitioner’s 12-month workplan and the leader’s written mandate are combined into a single roadmap: what will be done, by whom, with what resources, and how the board will know. Both facilitators attend, challenge the draft from both perspectives at once, and agree a follow-up structure with each pair.

In-house delivery: both courses, and the pair format, can also be delivered in-house for a single organisation, on your premises and your calendar.
